I be up in the gym, just working on my fitness...

Ok thats a lie.... I got a gym membership a few months prior to the engagement, but hardly ever use it. The past three months I haven't gone once. I am a bad bride. I have exercised way less since the proposal. I think the long engagement makes me less motivated, but if I don't get my butt in gear, I am going to regret not utilizing all the time.

This past week, one of my friends from childhood and I decided we are going to hike at least twice during the work week and maybe once on weekends, every single week until it snows out again. My friend who is doing this, is the same friend who had all of our friends over every day after school in high school doing Tae-Bo to prepare for Spring Break.

Luckily, there is a ski slope and hiking trails pretty close to our homes. Our first goal is to just make it up and down the "mountain" (it's really a large hill) at least two times per visit. Sunday, we went up and down the ski slope twice, just the two of us. Thursdays, we have recruited three other girls, which we hope to make a weekly ritual. When the five of us go, we tend to do the trail, then the slope, one time each.

By the end of the summer, I hope I can jog up the hill completely with no breaks. Right now I have trouble walking it with no breaks. I also hope to climb Mt. Washington again before the Wedding. Mr. Newport, my family, and I climbed it the summer after graduation. It was amazing. It was hard...but amazing.

Right now I seem to be more motivated than I have for the past few months because I am going to my first dress appointment later this month and engagement shoot next month, so lots to be motivated for.

How do you get yourself motivated to work out?

It's so much nicer when you have someone else to work out with. That's so cute she planned workouts for everyone to get ready for spring break...haha.

I agree with Adrienne having someone to work out with makes all the difference!

I go in spurts! I will get motivated but then I quickly lose my motivation. Currently, I am still looking for my motivation. It seems to be hiding.

Way to be motivated!!! Also, definitely a good idea to have a buddy to work out with. It almost forces you to workout.

I tend to start strong, then realize I have a lot of time and back off... inevitably that leads to me finding myself a week away from the event and freaking out! Before my wedding I was pretty good about working out and 3 months prior started lifting with a trainer 2x a week to get nice definition in my arms... I think it's important to recognize all of the little milestones along the way. Enjoy going up that hill girl!

Right now, motivation is my big sticking point, too. I agree with everyone else that having someone to do it with, someone else to be accountable to and to chat with to pass the time makes it much easier. Sounds like you girls have a great plan!

Oh man, my friend and I did Tae Bo in college in preparation for spring break!! But we got a noise complaint from all of the jumping around and had to stop :)
